The Bike Patrol Program

The Bike Patrol Program is active within the town as a very effective and versatile tool. Bike Patrol is especially useful in Thomaston’s unique expanse of footpaths, open space and parks. The department’s bicycle officers also handle normal patrol calls for service. Bike officers have the "stealth” advantage of riding into a crime scene unnoticed. Bike Patrol is also used for special events where the bikes’ maneuverability and speed are assets in areas crowded with high volumes of vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
